Through mutual respect and trust my mentor was very supportive. She provided consistent guidance which assisted me in obtaining my doctorate degree.

Dr. Yvette Richards

Words cannot adequately express my great appreciation and support for this outstanding organization. When I came in contact with Dr. Gwen Squires, I knew my life was on course for a unique educational journey. This organization infused me with the support and encouragement needed to pursue a Doctoral journey over four years.

Rochelle Parker

It is an honor to be on my doctoral journey with other women who look like me. Having access to those who have completed this journey is invaluable and encouraging. I feel like a whole team is rooting me on to the finish line.

Tanesha Thompson

I’ve had a challenging year which has caused me to be unmotivated with my program. Having a mentor has given me the drive, focus, encouragement and accountability I need to push through.

Dr. Denisha Johnson

It was such a privilege to be a part of SDI as I pursued and completed my doctoral journey. The women of SDI encouraged, mentored and prayed for me as I defended both my proposal and dissertation. Through my doctoral classes, I received immense support for writing and studying. It was beneficial to know that others were not only rooting for me, but also expecting progress.

The mentoring program provided me with financial and mental support. There’s nothing like having a group of strong capable women who have been through this kind of education to push and encourage you.

Dr. Janine Fells

My mentor was a perfect match. She challenged me to facilitate my growth and development and used several approaches that guided me towards completing tasks to reach my goal of obtaining my doctorate degree.

Societas Docta, Incorporated, members believe the art of mentoring to be one of our most important endeavors. A simplistic interpretation of mentoring is the process of providing academic, supportive, and nurturing guidance to a mentee. The mentee is the person who receives academic, supportive; and nurturing guidance.

This is a process whereby members guide and/or challenge mentees enabling them to facilitate their growth and development through mutual respect and trust. Through mutual respect and trust, mentees are assisted, using several approaches to complete tasks facing them in reaching a goal. Hopefully, each one will ultimately seek and obtain a doctoral degree in her chosen field.
